SHARJAH: With an anti-climax of the game, England beat Pakistan in Super over in third Twenty20 (T20) at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah.
After winning the third consecutive toss, skipper Morgan chose to bat yet again, but lost early wicket as young Amir Yameen removed Jason Roy on very first ball of the game.
Joe Root and Vince than built the inning from there putting 49 runs in first five overs of the game, before skipper Afridi came into the attack and removed Root (31) and Moeen (0) on two consecutive balls.
Malik than removed good-looking Morgan and then Rizwan’s brilliance in next (10th) over removed Buttler, he was run out while stealing a single, leaving England 75-5 in 10.3 overs.
Billings was the sixth wicket to fall in 13th over when he tried to pull a short ball, more like slow bouncer from Anwer Ali, being caught by Umar Akmal.
Chris Woakes then joined Vince and played some really brilliant shots to give some momentum to the English innings and from 86-6, he took his team… in 20 overs.
VInce also played his role, he made 46 (44) while Woakes ended on 37 of just 24 balls, both were removed in final over of the innings by Sohail Tanvir.
Tanvir ended 36-0-2-4 While Skipper was pick of the bowlers with his 2 for 19 in 4 overs quota.
In reply to 154, Pakistan’s batting toppled once again as they lost first 3 wickets on 11 runs.
Rafatullah went back for naught, Shahzad for 4 while Hafeez was run out just one runs.
Rizwan and Malik then gave some momentum to the innings before Rizwan (24) was removed by Adil Rasheed.
Umar Akmal too was in hurry to return to the hut, he went for 4, leaving Pakistan 56-5 in 12th overs.
In came the man in form, Skipper Afridi and he banged it all around along with Malik, both took Pakistan from 56-6 in 12th over to 128 in 18th.
Afridi was unlucky to return for 27 on 20 balls, with his three gigantic sixes, but Malik continued his legacy and brought Pakistan well close to the first T20 win of the series.
The match took an unbelievable turn when Pakistan lost match-finisher Malik just on second last ball of the game, trying to hit winning shot. He went for 75 on 53 balls.
Pakistan still needing 2 of the last ball, in came Anwer Ali.
AND…. most dramatically, Sohail Tanvir steals a bye on the last ball of the inning, throwing the game in SUPER OVER!
Pakistan came to bat first with Afridi and Umar Akmal on the crease but Chris Jordan’s CLASSY over restricted Pakistan on only 3 runs of the most needed of the SIX balls.
What an anti-climax of the game where Pakistan had almost won it till 19.4 balls of the 2nd innings.
England who needed 4 of the SUPER OVER to clean sweep Pakistan, did it in style and won the three-match T20 series 3-0.
