KARACHI: Election Commission of Pakistan on Wednesday evening has decided to postpone Local Government elections in 4 Municipal Committees, 14 Town Committees and 50 Union Councils of different parts of Sindh.
The decision to delay election was taken in ECP’s meeting under Chief Election Commission.
Secretary Election Commission Babar Yaqoob announced the news in a press conference that LG polls in 81 Union Councils from different districts of Sindh will not be held tomorrow.
This included 24 UCs from Hyderabad, 25 UCs from Mirpur Khas while 27 UCs of Nawabshah and 4 town committees from Badin.
Election in these Councils and Committees will be held after third phase.
On the other hand, polling in Sanghar has been already postponed due to security reasons.
 Polling for second phase of local government elections in fifteen districts of Sindh and twelve districts of Punjab will be held tomorrow (Thursday).
Punjab districts include Sargodha, Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Attock, Jhelum, Mianwali, Chiniot, Toba Tek Singh, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Sheikhupura and Khanewal while in Sindh, polling will be held in Hyderabad, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allayar, Matiari, Dadu, Jamshoro, Badin, Thatta, Sajawal, Shaheed Benazirabad, Nausharo Feroz, Mirpur Khas, Umerkot and Tharparkar.
