3rd ODI: Pakistan set 209 runs target for England as batting line collapses again

SHARJAH: Pakistan after having a steady start, collapsed in the middle and were bundled out for 209 runs, in third game of the four-match series at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah.

Openers Babar Azam and skipper Azhar Ali started the innings cautiously, and put up 45-run partisanship before Babar Azam top edged Woakes on 22.

Incoming Mohammad Hafeez continued his form and kept adding runs to the total along with Azhar,Azhar was the second wicket to fall as a misunderstanding between the two cost his key wicket, he  left the crease on 36, Pakistan were 92-2.

 Mohammad Hafeez and Sarfraz Ahmed  tried to build another partnership but failed as Mohammad Hafeez lost his wicket after scoring 45 runs.

Soon after Hafeez, Sarfraz threw his wicket with a reckless shot, and then Rizwan was run out for one, the table had turned on Pakistan.

Anwer Ali who has been failing in last two matches, was a sign of disappointment once again, he departed for 7.

Three of the Pakistan batsmen were run outs in today’s game, After Azhar Ali, Rizwan, Shoaib Malik wa the third one to fall prey of sharp English fielding.

Debutante Zafar Gohar played some brave shots before falling to Woakes leg-cutter for 15.

Spectators experienced some real drama as Wahab, after hitting six to Woakes’ on first ball,was given LBW on 2nd and 3rd ball and decision was over turned both the times as reviewed.

Wahab went not out for 33 of 33 as Pakistan were wrapped up for 208 in 49.5 balls.

Chris Woakes was pick of the bowlers, he finished 4-40 in 9.5 overs.

England will require 209 runs to win the game and go 2-1 up in the four-match series.
