ABU DHABI: English captain Alastair Cook, cool as cucumber in scorching sun of UAE has been irritated Pakistani bowlers for over two days before getting out on 263, he left Pakistani bowlers clueless as England closes the day on 569 for the lose of 8 wickets.

England resumed the day 290 for 3 (Cook 168*, Bell 63) trail Pakistan (523 for 8 dec) by 233 runs, and batted responsibly and brilliantly throughout the day.

Pakistani bowlers despite keeping line tight, could not get any wicket in first session and then second before Root edged one outside the off trying to stroke it through the covers on 85, giving a consolation wicket to tired Rahat Ali.

Cook was then joined by JM Bairstow who soon left the crease as trapped before wicket by tireless Wahab on 8. England were then 443-5.

Stokes came an played some delicate strokes taking advantage of tired bowling lineup, however he too was sent back by Malik on 57 in last hour of the day, but he had played his part as England surpassed Pakistan’s giant-looking total and took lead.

After playing a superb knock of 263, Cook fell prey of another double-ton maker Malik, gently spooning a sweep to backward square leg! Cook looked weary to his bones as he took off his helmet and headed for the dressing room… The triple will have to wait for another day.

Buttler in came and took on left arm spinner Zulfiar Babar hitting him a six and a four and then loosing concentration with his wicket too.

Babar’s quest is over, after 68.5 overs of blood, sweat and tears. Didn’t get hold of this and lobbed it to the catcher running from cover.

England close Day 4 with 569 for 8 on board.
