India resumes Samjhota Express operation

Indian authorities refuse to open gate for Samjhota Express | TheNewsTribe.com

LAHORE: India has agreed to resume Samjhota Express’ Operation after Foreign Office of Pakistan indulged into the matter on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s commands, TheNewsTribe.com reported.

The train will start functioning from Thursday (tomorrow). Departure time from Lahore is 8 am.

PM had ordered foreign office to tackle the issue via dialogues with Indian authorities.

Earlier, the Indian Railway authorities once again cancelled the Samjhota Express which was scheduled to depart from Lahore on Monday. Sources said that relevant authorities have forwarded a message that protests in India have yet not finished; therefore, the train should not be sent.

Previously, the Samjhota Express was denied entry into India from the Wagah station on October 8. The Indian authorities asked the Pakistan Railways to offload the passengers and not to send the train as they could not guarantee security after protests staged by farmers in the Indian Punjab.

Many stranded passengers from both sides had to face many difficulties, while few of them decided not to wait and took roadways to return to their respective countries.
