ISLAMABAD: Social Media and its behavior is one of the questionable things in digital world, but sometime it faces serious charges from within the industry, senior Pakistani journalist Ansar Abbasi did the same as he raised many questions over social media and its use in Pakistan.

In a recently published article, Ansar Abbasi has criticised Pakistani social media as he said that creating fake pages and using it without sense of responsibility is more than danger.

In his recent column in leading Urdu Daily Jang with the title of “dirty game of fake Facebook and Twitter,” he wrote absence of cybercrime law is one of the many reason behind social media related problems.

“There are almost ten fake but active Facebook pages operating on my name even I’ve not a single FB page,” he wrote.

Social media in Pakistan is busy in lie and fraud, if we want to secure ourselves from such type of activities we should capture and sentence those involved in it, Abbasi suggested in his column.

Abbasi quoted a story of a female anti-terrorism activist who was campaigning in favor of APS (Peshawar) martyrs and were setting protest on 16th of every month against brutality those kids suffered.

He wrote that how he met that woman in a ceremony and she told Abbasi that first propaganda started criticizing her western outfit, but it did not halt her protests, then at least ten Facebook pages are running on her name that publish anti-Islamic literature and hate-provoking material.

She claimed that a pro-Taliban group is making ground against her so that anyone can kill her under blasphemy laws.

She lodged written complaint which resulted in closing down those pages but culprits were still not nabbed.

Abbasi further suggested that there should be active cyber crime law to avoid negative and promote positive use of social media.
