2nd ODI: Zimbabwe beat Pakistan by 5 runs

HARARE:  Thanks to Duck-worth Lewis method, Zimbabwe beat Pakistan in thriller second of the three-match ODI series by 5 runs at Harare Sports Club, Harare.

Just when Pakistan was on the verge of a thrilling victory, match umpires unexpectedly stopped match on Zimbabwe’s bad light call, an unethical move from Zimbabwe team, took the game away from Pakistan.

Pakistan require 21 more of 12 balls with 2 wickets in hand.

Malik is still on the crease with 96 runs.

Chasing a sizable total of 277, Pakistan top order collapsed again putting visitor on the verge of defeat as they lost first f5 wickets for just 56 runs in 18th over.

Pakistan came under immense pressure when debutante Bilal Asif threw away his wicket playing a reckless short that ended with a top edge straight in the hands of short extra for 0.

Skipper Azhar Ali followed him in third over, he scored just one run.

IT was Malik and young Amir Yamin who built up a valuable partnership for 7th wicket adding 111 runs to the total.

Yamin scored 62 of 68 balls before he edged one down the leg side to the keeper.

Earlier, Zimbabwe came back strongly in the series and posted a 276/6 in first innings, thanks to Chibhabha’s 90 and then captain Chigumbura’s 65.

Wahab Riaz, a bit expensive, but bagged four out six Zimbabwean wickets that fell today for 63 runs in hi 10 over.

Yasir, Malik, Azhar and debutante Bilal Asif went wicket less, while Irfan and Amir Yamin share two wickets.

 Chibhabha was chosen Man of the Match for his brilliant 90 runs innings.

Series hangs in balance with 1-1, final match will be played on 5th October, Monday.
