Raheel Sharif beats me in popularity: Pervez Musharraf

KARACHI: Pakistan’s former military chief and  ruler Gen (Retd) Pervez Musharraf has said  current Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has beaten him in popularity.

According to details, he gave these remarks while giving an interview to local TV channel he said, “Raheel Sharif is more popular than me. And he was doing a great job as the supreme commander of the country.”

Musharraf also defended his statement, which he gave few days back, about giving extension to Raheel Sharif.

Former Army chief said “I stand by my demand because it is in the broader interest of the people of Pakistan.”

In a reply to a question, the former president reiterated the sitting army chief’s bold initiatives are appreciable.
