Breakage of safety wall caused Mina stampede

MAKKAH: Mina Stampede that took 453 lives and left over 720 injured, actually occurred due to breakage of safety wall, TheNewsTribe.com learnt from Arab media.

Mina is situated 5 kilometers to the east of the Holy city of Makkah, and stands on the road from Makkahs city centre to the Hill of Arafat.

In recent days there has been a spate of incidents in Mecca, where over 2 million Muslim pilgrims have gathered for the annual haj pilgrimage.

Hot weather of Mina (42 degrees Celsius) caused a stir in the crowed, and every pilgrim wanted to complete Ramee (the process of throwing pebbles to Setan) and return to their tents.

The over pushes from the crowd led to breakage of safety wall and a hustle created in Mina near Maktab-93, street 204.

According to Saudi civil defence, most of the Al-Jazair pilgrims are involved in martyrs.

According to TheNewsTribe correspondent, injured were rushed to General hospital Mina, Noor and Al-Watani Hospital Jeddah.

More than 4000 rescue personnel are busy in operation.

As soon as incident place was cleared, pilgrims are allowed to resume ‘Ramee’ (throwing pebbles on Setan.) 

Earlier, on September 2015, another incident of crane crash in Masjid al Haram (Grand Mosque) left 108 martyred and more than 200 injured.

Saudi King Shah Salman arrived at Mina after sad incident occurred on Thursday in which at least 240 pilgrims embraced martyrdom.

Saudi King Salman visited arrived at Mina and monitored the ongoing rescue operation.
