ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday chaired a high-level meeting at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad to review security situation in the country.
According to sources, the meeting reviewed overall security situation of the country, with particular reference to Friday’s terrorist attack on Badaber PAF camp in Peshawar and sharing of evidences with Afghanistan in this regard.
Pakistan maintains that the attackers came from Afghanistan and the attack was planned and coordinated from the neighboring country.
“There are evidences that terrorists had telephonic contacts within Afghanistan. Since Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan leadership is in Afghanistan, the possibility of terrorists’ contacts within Afghanistan cannot be ruled out,” Adviser to Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said on Sunday while speaking to a private TV channel.
Minister for Defence, Khawaja Asif, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, DG ISPR Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa, DG MO Major General Aamir Riaz, DG MI Major General Nadeem Zaki and others also attended the meeting.
Implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) against terrorists was also discussed in the high-level meeting, sources said.
