WASHINGTON: Samsung may face ban on some of its models or have to make changes as Apple on Thursday won the patent case in the US court.
A U.S. appeals court said Apple should have been awarded an injunction barring Samsung from selling products that infringe its patents, handing Apple another victory in its ongoing smartphone fight with its biggest rival.
The lawsuit first filed in 2012 by Apple in which the company claimed that Samsung was using some of its technology without proper permission.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington said the lower court abused its discretion when it denied Apple an injunction after a jury ordered Samsung Electronics Co. to pay $120 million in May, 2014 for infringing three of Apple’s patents. The case involved Apple patents covering the iPhone’s slide-to-unlock, autocorrect and data detection features.
