LAHORE: Pakistan’s legendary spinner Saeed Ajmal has expressed his desire to play a farewell match before making official announcement of retirement, Geo News reported.
Ajmal, 37,who has served Pakistan in 35 Test matches and 113 ODIs, was banned for his bowling action by International Cricket Council (ICC) last year.
After plenty of hardwork, Ajmal cleared returned to international arena after clearing his re-modeled action and was included in the team for Bangladesh tour, but failed to make his mark.
The bad patch for Ajmal continued as he was downgraded from central contract category ‘A’ to ‘B’ by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and was not included in Pakistan’s squad for the series against Zimbabwe and England.
Ajmal also failed to impress critics and selectors in recent National T20 Cricket Cup in Rawalpindi. Many believe that Ajmal’s previous magic has gone with his bowling action.
Close friends of Ajmal said he has made his decision to retire from all three formats of cricket but wants to play one last match before he bids farewell.
