42 more militants lay down arms in Turbat

TURBAT: A group of 42 militants including two key commanders belonging to a banned organization have surrendered and pledged their allegiance to the country on Saturday.

According to the Frontier Constabulary (FC) spokesperson, the militants who were part of a banned outfit in Turbat for many years have laid down their weapons before Commissioner Makran and Commandant Makran Scouts.

The surrendering militants will receive Rs 0.5 million to Rs 1.5 million each other than education, health and other facilities for their children under the Pur Aman (peaceful) Balochistan Programme.

Earlier on Friday, around 400 rebel commanders from various areas of Balochistan surrendered on the occasion of Independence Day.

A grand ceremony was held in Police Lines where Commander Southern Command Lt Gen Muhammad Nasir Khan Janjua appeared as a chief guest.

So far, more than 700 Baloch rebels have joined the national mainstream during last two months.
