ISLAMABAD: As Muttahida Qaumi Movement Parliamentarians are all set to submit their reisgnations today, let us have a brief review of what could be post-MQM-resignation scenario of the country.
As MQM has 51 members in the Sindh assembly, 24 members (four reserve seat and one minority seat) in the National Assembly and eight Senators, which is a reasonable number of seats to pressurize government to accept their demands.
If MQM resigns, and if those resignations are subsequently accepted, it would see by-elections on almost all the provincial and national assembly seats in Karachi.
As it is believed by experts, MQM will take to streets to maximize their pressure and will ey call upon foreign aid to help their cause.
If Rangers push them in Karachi, there is a fair chance that a clash may take place.
Now, it is all subjected to approval of their resignations.
