PhD stipend increased from Rs.16,000 to Rs.30,000

KARACHI – International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi (UoK) has increased the scholarships for MPhil and PhD students from Rs.14,000 to Rs.16,000 and Rs.16,000 to Rs.30,000 respectively.

Dr. Syed Ghulam Musharraf, In-charge Admission Programme said this on Monday while speaking at a meeting of the admission committee held at HEJ, Research Institute of Chemistry. He said that the decision was taken in the 18th executive board meeting of the ICCBS held this year.

Conversely, after rigorous admission processes, International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi (UoK) has inducted 90 candidates for its MPhil and PhD Programme-2015, he added.

Director ICCBS Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary asked the successful students to work hard with their studies and research work, as they owned the opportunity to be the part of the internationally famous higher learning academic programme.

“With this substantial increase in the scholarships, ICCBS scholars are expected to exhibit complete dedication to their studies, including spending maximum productive time in their lab.”

“The ICCBS admission for MPhil/PhD programme was announced in conjunction with the University of Karachi (May 14). A total 90 candidates were selected after written and oral examinations in various discipline including organic chemistry, analytical/physical/inorganic chemistry, bio-organic chemistry, plant biotechnology, pharmacology, textile chemistry and molecular medicine,” Dr. Musharraf said said.

It is pertinent to mention here that semester has already been started from 22nd July 2015.
