PTI suspends Minister Zia Ullah Afridi from party membership

PESHAWAR – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) suspended the party membership of arrested Provincial Minister for Minerals Zia Ullah Afridi on Friday.

According to details, party membership of Zia Ullah Afridi is was suspended until the decision of court regarding his corruption cases. Sources said that his party membership was suspended on the directions of Chairman PTI, Imran Khan.

Formal notification was issued by the provincial leadership of PTI.

Earlier, in a major move against corrupt officials, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission arrested provincial  in a case related to alleged illegal assets. Minister for minerals, Zia Ullah Khan Afridi   in a case related to alleged illegal assets.

According to media reports, Zia Ullah Afridi was also accused of abuse of power and and corruption.

The arrest of Provincial Minister Zia Ullah Khan challenged in High Court by his brother Hadayt Ullah.

According to details, petition filed in High Court termed the arrest of Provincial Minister illegal and un-constitutional.

Petition filed by Hadayt Ullah read that arrest is the violation of article 4 and 9 of the constitution of Pakistan.

It further stated that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was already investigating the corruption allegation against Zia Ullah Afridi, so the arrest made by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission is illegal and unconstitutional.

Brother of Zia Ullah Afridi demanded in petition the immediate release of Provincial Minister.
