Eid al-Fitr 2015: Moon sighted in India

Mumbai: The Ruyat-e-Hilal Committees in various parts of India based on reports in the respective states have announced that Shawwal moon has been sighted and first day of Eid will be observed in India on Saturday July 18, 2015.

“A meeting of the Ruyat-e-Hilal Committee, Imarat-e-Sharaiyah-Hind was held today in New Delhi. It was decided to announce that the moon of SHAWWAL has been sighted”, MUIZUDDIN AHMAD, Secretary of the Ruyat-e-Hilal Committee said in a statement.

“It is therefore declared that the 1st Shawwal (first day of Eid) falls on SATURDAY the 18th JULY 2015”, the statement said.

General Secretary of the All India Ulema Council and member of Mumbai’s hilal committee, Maulana Mehmood Daryabadi also announced that Saturday (July 18) will be the first Eid day as Shawwal moon has been sighted in India.
