Explosion hits Italian consulate in Egypt

CAIRO – A large and deadly explosion has hit the Italian consulate in Egypt’s capital city Cairo on Saturday morning.

Law enforcement agencies of Egypt have said the cause of the blast early on Saturday is still unclear.

According to the details, Five people have been wounded, including two police officers, eye witnesses at the scene told media.

The consulate was closed at the time.

There has been no immediate claim of responsibility.

Egyptian security forces have battling Islamic militants, but the fighting has been mostly confined to the Sinai Peninsula.
