UFA, RUSSIA – Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif all set to meet with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the SCO summit at Ufa, Russia today (Friday).
Foreign Office of Pakistan terms scheduled meeting ‘a positive development’ and an ice-breaker that may help to diffuse tension between two countries.
The spokesperson for the Foreign Office, Qazi Khalilullah, said international community is also interested in improvement of relations between Pakistan and India as it would benefit not only the people of the two countries but also the whole region.
As regards the full membership of SCO, the spokesperson said that Pakistan is hopeful that its application will be approved in principle.
He said the Prime Minister will also have bilateral meetings with the Presidents of Russia, China and Afghanistan.
