CARDIFF – English bowlers showed some brilliant fast bowling and restricted the Australian team to 308 runs in the first inning of opening Test match of Ashes series on Friday.
Australian opener Rogers showed some classic cricket shots and put pressure on English bowlers. Rogers was a single player who scored fifty for his team. He scored 95 runs and remain top scorer for his side.
World top Test player, Smith scored 33 runs in the first inning. Smith and Rogers put 77 runs together on the score board. Australian captain scored 38 runs and all-rounder Watson contributed 30 runs in total of 308.
On the other hand, English bowlers showed brilliant bowling and put Australian team under pressure.
Anderson sent back three batsmen to pavilion. Broad, Wood and Moeen Ali took two wickets each. Moeen Ali showed all-round performance. In the first inning Moeen also played the great and useful inning of 77 runs and helped England to set a mammoth total for Australian team.
