Ashes Series 2015: Moeen Ali Helps England to set a huge total

CARDIFF – Young batsman Root and all-rounder Moeen Ali helped England team to set a mammoth total in the first inning of opening Test match of Ashes series, on Thursday.  

England team scored 430 runs in the first inning of Test match. After the great inning by Root, Stokes scored 52 runs and took control on the game.

All rounder Moeen Ali put 77 runs on the board and helped English team to set a huge total for Australian team. It is important to mention here that he is on fast during first test.

While talking to England’s news agency, he said that he will fast during Ashes series in the month of Ramadan. He cleared that refraining from drinking and eating will improve his performance.

All-rounder told that fasting while playing is not too much difficult.

Fast bowler Starc took five wickets and Hazlewood sent back three batsmen to pavilion.

English skipper opted to bat first after winning the toss. England team so far scored 343 runs on the first day of Test match. Australian bowlers gave brilliant start to their team and grabbed three wickets in no time.

Opener of England team, Lyth left the crease after scoring just six runs. Cook also lost his wicket after playing the inning of 20 runs. Experienced middle order batsman also failed to produce a good inning and left the crease after he scored just a run.

After three back to back wickets, young Root and Ballance put 153 runs together on board. Root played a great knock of 134 runs and Ballance scored 61 runs.
