PCB requests ICC for extension in Hafeez’s bowling action test

LAHORE – Pakistan Cricket Board officially requested International Cricket Council (ICC) for an extension in the deadline of Mohammad Hafeez’s bowling action test.

Off-spinner Mohammad Hafeez’s bowling action was reported after the first Test against Sri Lanka. Pakistani all-rounder had not yet been granted Indian visa so PCB requested ICC to extend the deadline of July for his bowling action test.

PCB asked ICC to announce new date between the third Test and ODI series against Sri Lanka. Hafeez has joined the team in Pallekele for the third and the last Test match of the series.

Pakistan’s team manager Nadeem Akram said that they have requested ICC to announce new.  “We have tried everything to make sure he had his test within 14 days but the visa hasn’t been granted by the Indian embassy here in Colombo. “We have asked for another date between third Test and ODI series,” Nadeem Akram Cheema told ESPNcricinfo.

On field umpires Richard Illingworth (England) and Paul Reiffel (Australia) informed to ICC about Hafeez’s suspect action.

Hafeez had been reported for a suspect action after the Abu Dhabi Test against New Zealand in November last year, and in December his action was found to be illegal following tests at an ICC accredited centre in Loughborough, England. He was found to have an elbow extension up to 31 degrees, far above the permitted limit of 15 degrees.

He underwent remedial work at a biomechanics lab in Chennai, but failed an unofficial test on his action on January 3. Later Hafeez cleared his action after the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup 2015.
