England beat New Zealand by 56 runs in only T20

OLD TRAFFORD: Joe Root’s heroic sealed the day for hosts as England thrashed New Zealand by 56 runs in the only Twenty20 match of the series on Tuesday.

Joe Root’s 46-balls 68 runs helped England posting a mammoth total of 191-7, with Alex Hales, Jason Roy, Sam Billings and Ben Stokes all playing their parts.

New Zealand off to a blazing start lose Guptil early but Brendon McCullum bludgeoned 35 from 15 balls, setting up tone for his team, New Zealand were well set at 82-2 off eight overs.

It was when Williamson held reins of epic run chase, his 56 of 35 ball brought Kiwis pretty much close to the target, but his wicket cost them the match as after him, last five wickets fell for only four runs. Black Caps ere all out for 135.

Wood and Willy, the two WWs for England contributed with 3, 3 wickets for each.
