Protest against load shedding continues across country on 2nd day of Ramadan

ISLAMABAD – The claims of reduction of load shedding in the month of Ramadan by government proved hollow as the protest against power load shedding continues across the country on 2nd Ramadan.

Extremely hot and dry weather doubled up with worst load shedding enraged the fasters. Protesters set WAPDA offices on fire in Charsadah and Swabi, whereas in Multan, people protest in a unique way by beating drums while trying to wake the officials up.

Protests were also observed in Hafizabad where the citizens lit tyres in order to record their protests. Similar protests were held in Lodhran, Gujranwala and Khanewal.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif took strict notice of increased load shedding and showed his anger and demanded immediate answer over the issue of unscheduled load shedding during sahar o aftar hours.

While talking to the media, Khawaja Asif cautioned consumer to conserve energy in order to enjoy endless supply of electricity in Ramadan. “Power generation crossed 16000 MW for the first time in the history of Pakistan,” he added.
