Provincial cabinet unveils budget of Rs.488 billions

PESHAWAR – The budget session of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly started. Speaker Asad Qaisar is chairing the session.

According to the media reports, opposition parties have started protest during the speech of Finance Minister. Provincial Minister for Finance, Muzaffar Said is presenting the budget.

 Leaders of the opposition parties including JUI-F’s Lutfur Rahman, and Awami National Party’s Sardar Hussain Babak and PPP’s Nighat Orakzai  protested against government and termed budget anti-poor. 

According to media sources, the KPK government has allocated Rs 108 billion for primary and secondary level education. The provincial government has also proposed 10 per cent increase  in salaries and pensions of government employees while Rs 150 billion have been allocated for developmental works.

 Rs24 billion have been allocated for health sector while five billion rupees are reserved for subsidy on ghee and flour. The provincial government has also allocated Rs 2 billion for subsidy on wheat.
