GILGIT-BALTISTAN – The Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf has grabbed a victory by one vote during general elections in Gilgit Baltistan after recount.
According to media reports, the elections in the constituency of GB LA-7 has ended in avery tense environment. A unique situation arose in GBLA-7, Skardu-1 where PTI and PML-N had a tie.
After the first count of ballots from all polling stations, the PTI’s Raja Jalal had 53-vote lead. After 600 postal ballots were included in the count, Raja Jalal’s lead shrank to only one-vote . Then the PML-N candidate demanded the re-count of votes.
On this, the Returning Officer (RO) sealed his office and stop results. The PTI workers staged a protest outside the Returning Officer (RO) office over ECP’s decision to stop the result.
Sources revealed that ECP annouces recounting which resulted in the victory of PTI’s candidate Raja Jalal by one vote. His opponent PML-N Haji Akbar accepted the lead of PTI.
