KABUL – Afghan media claimed that top clerics of country announced their unconditional support for Afghan security forces.
According to the sources of Afghan national media, a union of over two thousand clerics of Afghanistan announced their full support to Afghan security forces for the maintenance of law and order in the country.
The Ulema Council, the highest religious authority in a deeply conservative country, came under attack several times in past after it had announced its support for security forces fighting the Taliban insurgents.
Afghan security official termed it very positive development as the powerful clerics can shape up public opinion against Taliban insurgents significantly through mosques across the country.
