PESHAWAR – The Election Commission of Pakistan has declared the recently held local bodies pollings null and void in some constituencies.
According to the government sources, the action has been taken by the election commission on the perusal of complaints received from different areas of KPK.
Around 300 complaints were received by the ECP alone from Peshawar district – relating to rigging, firing and breach of electoral code of conduct.
The senior leadership of Jamat-e-Islami had also called in a meeting to discuss the progress of local bodies polls.
The Election Commission of Pakistan has also acknowledged the concerns of JI and has said that the elections would be conducted again in the constituencies proving rigging.
