Age Limit for CSS should be increased

ISLAMABAD- During the debate on petitions filed through Public Petition System which has been recently introduced by the Senate, the age limit for CSS (Central Superior System) was also discussed in Senate on Thursday.

On the basis of petition filed to enhance the age limit for CSS. Senator Sehar Kamran argued that in other countries like Europe, India the upper age limit for CSS is 35 years but in Pakistan it is 28 due to which many intelligent and able people stand ineligible for CS examination.

If a student wants to take the exam after completing his/her MPhil or PhD his cannot do so because his age has exceeded the limit.

Senator Mohsin Leghari said that in competitive examination and quota system a rightful person is deprived from his right and son of a rich person gets education in cities and to get quota acquires a fake domicile. This issue should be probed as to why fake domiciles are formulated.

Senator Gyan Chand maintained that we should do policy making on equality, this is the only remedy to the problems of people belonging to underdeveloped areas. Age limit of CSS examination should be increased to 30 years.

Senator Usman Kakar said that merit should be focused upon instead of focusing age limit. Until then the deserving cannot get his/her right.

Senator Abdul Qayyum said that the education system of provinces should be improved if age limit is to be increased, it should be done for specified duration.

Sayyad Muzaffar Hussain Shah was of the view that there should be a comprehensive discussion on the issue of increasing the age limit of CSS candidates. This issue should be handed over to the relevant Standing Committee.

Mir Hasil Bizenjo stressed that provinces should get equal rights and the suggestion for enhancing age limit should be considered.

During the discussion, Minister of state for Parliamentary affairs Sheikh Aftab assured that Government will not oppose the increase in age limit for CSS.

Leader of the House enator Zafar ul Haq concluded the debate by saying that the issue will be resolved by collaboration with opposition leader. He further said that in regard with fake domicile a bill for legislation will soon be taken to the Senate to get it passed,
