NEWYORK- The recent study reveals that Facebook is user friendly to an extent that it only shows those posts which are of users’ interests.
Nowadays many people remain up to date through face book and a new study has found that this social website tries that every user gets only those updates on his timeline which are according to his/her interests.
The North Eastern University of America has conducted a study by considering more than 10 Million Facebook users, which revealed that this website uses a news filtering algorithm which shares only those things on the users’ timeline that comes under their area of interest, e.g. only those news would be shared which are relevant to their political interests.
Face book determines its users’ interest through the data they have given and it determines the story which comes on their timeline.
Actually users cannot see every post shared by their friends the reason for which is that these posts are not relevant with their interests. In this way face book tries to keep its users happy with the services.
According to the study, by doing this face book also develops the power to influence its users’ way of thinking or to ingrain a particular view in their minds.
Researchers maintain that face book gives special attention to those whose friends have different political affiliations, here the algorithm activates and filters the material which the user can view on his timeline.
This algorithm filters on the basis of the user’s previous clicks and then shares the material which is relevant to them.
The study further reveals that face book rarely provides any such material on a user’s timeline which does not relate with his views or political affiliation.
