Gaddafi Stadium Sealed By Excise And Taxation Department

LAHORE – Due to non-payment of property tax amounting to 52.3 million rupees, the department of Excise and Taxation has sealed the offices of Gaddafi Stadium and the nearby shops given on rent by PCB on Thursday.

The PCB has not paid the property tax since 2002 which has exceeded Rs. 52.3 million in 13 years. The officials of taxation department sealed Offices of PCB, Qaddafi Stadium, their shops and restaurants early in the morning and attached the notifications on the gates.

According to the sources, the application of PCB for the grant of immunity from property tax had been rejected by Lahore High Court after which the officials of Excise and Taxation Department contacted PCB.

Upon non-payment of tax, the offices of PCB have been sealed. According to the sources, on the request of the Chairman PCB and due to the interference of high government officials, one out of twelve gates has been kept open.

The remaining gates shall be kept closed subjected to the payment of pending amount.

Lawyer PCB Tafazul Rizwi while talking to media said that the PCB is yet to be given the hard copy of High Court’s decision related to the rejection of immunity appeal.

He also added that we are propagating negative impression as a result of all these legal skirmishes at the time when Zimbabwe security team is near to its visit to Lahore and that it will have an adverse effect on the revival of international cricket .
