Complete shutdown observed in Narbal in IHK

SRINAGAR: Complete shutdown was observed on Friday in Badgam district’s Narbal area in the Indian held Kashmir where a school boy, Suhail Ahmad Sofi was killed by Indian troops, last week.

Shops, business establishments and schools remained closed in the area. Hurriyet leader, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, led a big protest rally. The protesters shouted high-pitched anti-India and pro-liberation slogans.

Addressing the rally, Hurriyet leaders including Nayeem Khan, Raja Noor Muhammad Kalwal and Khan Sopori reiterated the Kashmiris’ resolve to continue mission of their martyrs till complete success.

They said that proposed separate settlements for the Kashmiri Pandits and grant of permanent citizenship rights to non-state subjects to change the demography of the territory would be resisted at any cost.

Meanwhile, Indian police placed Hurriyet leaders including Syed Ali Geelani, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Mushtaq-ul-Islam and Zafar Akbar Butt under house arrest in Srinagar. The action was taken to prevent them from leading demonstrations against the illegal detention of senior Hurriyet leader, Masarrat Aalam Butt, under draconian law, Public Safety Act.
