KARACHI: A control room on Monday has been established to monitor the by-election in the NA-246 constituency. Two independent candidates have withdrawn from the election.
Ballot papers’ printing has been completed for the by-election under the supervision of the Pakistan Army. The ballots have been handed over to the returning officers (ROs) and district officers.
At least 4 lac ballots have been printed for the by-election. The ballots will be given to the presiding officers on April 22. As many as 213 polling stations have been formed for the election on April 23.
A ban on pillion riding has been imposed in the city from April 21 to April 24. The enactment of the ban will be done from 12 A M (Monday).
A control room has been established to monitor the by-election in the NA-246 constituency and two teams headed by director general Masood Malik have been formed which will monitor the matters.
The voters can contact on the phone numbers 0519206739 and 0519204540 if they any complaint with regard to electoral lists and vote casting.
Meanwhile, the election commission of Pakistan has directed for installing CCTV cameras at the polling stations. Presiding officers will reach at polling stations 24 hours before the start of the polling. The election commission also said that CCTV cameras should be installed for ensuring the sanctity of the vote.
Election commission asked the intelligence agencies to have coordinated contacts among themselves so that the law and order situation could be made better and all the candidates and parties could have equal opportunities.
