Cuba Should Be Excluded From The List OF Terrorist:U.S

U.S Department of State has recommended that Cuba should be excluded from list of countries that are backing terrorism.

Senator Ben Cardin, member of US Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, has confirmed the news, saying, ‘This is an important step.

If this is materialiezed this will pave the way to re-opening the embassies of both the countries.

Closed for more than half a century before the meeting in Cuba after the revolution, the leaders of the two countries was the high level meeting.

It is expected that the Cuban leader Raul Castro and US President Barack Obama might have a formal meeting for the first time.
The president’s policy shift on Cuba has been welcomed in much of Latin America. After a meeting with Mr. Obama on Thursday in the Jamaican capital of Kingston, Jamaican Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller thanked Mr. Obama for renewing ties with “our closest neighbor.”

“We’re very happy to say to you, Mr. President, you are on the right side of history,” she said.

Mr. Obama faces a tougher reception at home, however, which could complicate his efforts to fully restore U.S.-Cuba ties. The White House has come under intense criticism from anti-Castro lawmakers, such as Sen. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.), and groups that support the U.S. embargo.

“Cuba has done nothing to earn the legitimacy President Obama continues to bestow on the regime,” Mr. Rubio said this week. “It is a grave mistake to delist Cuba from the state sponsors of terrorism list, one that will further embolden the regime to step up their actions against America’s interests.”

Mr. Obama’s announcement of a final decision could come during the two-day Summit of the Americas, which begins Friday evening in Panama, but administration officials said the timing remained uncertain.

This is the first time that the Cuban leader’s are included in the summit of the Organization of American States.Top of Form

United States has been tagging Cuba, along with Iran and Syria, as terrorism promoting states.
In this list the name of Cuba was entered first time in 1982 when the Basque separatists and Colombia’s FARC rebels were offered asylum.

Senator Cardin said:

‘This is a more productive relationship with Cuba and is an important effort to make. ”

If President Obama accepts the recommendation , the US Congress will have 45 days to reject this decision.
