Guptill’s double ton breaks several records of World Cup

WELLINGTON: New Zealand star batsman Martin Guptill became the first New Zealander to score a double century in One Day International Cricket.

He has broken the record of highest individual scorer in World Cup which was also made in this World Cup by Chris Gayle when he smashed 215 against Zimbabwe.

Guptill scored 237 runs and remained unbeatable against West Indies to claim the record.

His innings were graced with 11 sixes and 24 fours.  He completed double century on 152 balls.

Guptill is now the only cricketer to have scored more than 150 in a World Cup knockout match.

The batsman also hit the longest six of this World Cup of 110m to break the Warner’s record of 104m which he made against Scotland.
