Sarfaraz to play Saturday’s crucial match against South Africa

AUCKLAND: Pakistan cricket team’s tour selection committee had decided to include wicket-keeper batsmen Sarfaraz Ahmed in the playing eleven in their crucial Pool B encounter against South Africa in Auckland on Saturday.

Sources said that the committee decided to drop out-of-form opener Nasir Jamshed in the crucial match, who will be replaced by Sarfaraz Ahmed. However, Sarfaraz is unlikely to open inning for Pakistan.

The green-shirts’ think tank is mulling over promoting middle order batsmen Haris Sohail up the order, to send him to open innings.

The Saturday’s encounter is crucial for Pakistan prospects of advancing to the last eight groups, as the 1922 champions have only 4 point out of four matches.

If they win the Saturday’s encounter against the tournament ‘s favourite South Africa, their chances to secure a berth in quarter final will be brightened.
