Thrimanne, Sangakkara lead Sri Lanka for a 9 wickets win over England

WELLINGTON: Classic Sangakkara and calm Thrimanne led Sri Lanka to chase down 309 on loss of a wicket against England in match 22 of World Cup at Westpac Stadium.

Kumar Sangakkara and Lahiru Thrimanne made 212 partnership for the third wicket which took the game away from England.

Thrimanne scored unbeaten 139 while Snagakkara scored another quick century without losing his wicket. He made 117 just facing 86 delivers.

Earlier, Joe Root led the side to set a massive total of 309 on loss of 6 wickets. He made 121 before getting leg before wicket (LBW) on the bowl of Rangana Herath while Ian Bell made 49 runs.
