ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Housing & Works Muhammad Akram Khan Durrani has said that low cost Housing Units under Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme would be constructed on fast track basis in Islamabad and all the four provinces which would be given to low income people on easy monthly installments.
Chairing Board of Directors (Apna Ghar Limited) meeting on Monday, the Minister said that time is very short and we have to proceed very quickly to construct five lacks Housing Units as per government commitment with the people. He said that formalities should not be made a hurdle in the way of implementation for early execution of the project.
He said that work which needs to be done in months, should be done in week time rather than in months. The Minister directed the board members to complete the project within the tenure of the present government so that the commitment made by the government with the people should be fulfilled.
The Minister was informed that in KPK sites for the project has been identified in District Bannu, District Laki Marwat, District D.I.Khan and District Charsada. While in Punjab sites have already been identified in District Jehlam and District, Lahore, similarly, Government of Balochistan have identified sites for the project near Quetta. While, site for the project in Sindh has been identified in Karachi and Hyderabad.
The Minister directed them to acquire land from the provinces so that work could be started on it on fast track basis. The Board decided to submit a summary to the Prime Minister for approval of 500 millions before 2nd March, 2015 for execution of the project
