KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari has directed the police officials to use every possible resources to improve law and order situation of the province.
The PPP co-chairman on Friday chaired high level meeting regarding anti-terrorism and police emergency services.
On the occasion he said that province has terror threats more than the past which needed fool proof security arrangements that Peshawar like incident could not be occurred.
For the purpose the PPP co-chairman Zardari further instructed the police to provide security to government and private schools on preferential basis.
Earlier on January 8 (yesterday) The Sindh government had shortlisted major cases related to terrorism including incidents of Karachi airport, Mehran base and Karsaz attack which would be recommended to be tried in military courts.
The Sindh government spokesman said that 15 out of 20 points of the National Action Plan (NAP) were related to the provincial governments. The spokeman was addressing a press conference in Karachi after completion of a high-level meeting held to review mechanism of the NAP.
He said that the 21st constitutional amendment was a concrete steps towards maintain law and order. The development would definitely help to uproot terrorism from the country. He announced that the process of execution will be started from January 13 in Sindh.
The spokesman had revealed that approximately 3,000 terrorism related cases were still pending primarily of extortion and target killing in Sindh province. He said that the cases will be recommended to federal government to refer it for trail in the military courts. He clarified the provincial governments were not authorities to refer directly the cases for trial courts.
Sindh government formed four committees including legal, judicial, intelligence and media to implement the NAP. Meanwhile, the apex committee would be led by Chief Minister of Sindh Qaim Ali Shah.
The provincial government also announced that the provincial government decided to commence crackdowns against illegal immigrants and Afghan refugees whom were currently residing in Sindh. He added that the schools which were facing terrorism threats must finalise strict security arrangements.
