Hockey players reveal why they took their shirts off

LAHORE: Pakistan hockey team players have revealed why they celebrated the victory against India in the semifinal of FIH Champions Trophy by taking their shirts off.

Pakistan skipper Mohammad Imran said in an interview that the Indians had their boots in their hands and were chanting slogans against Pakistan while Pakistan’s national anthem was being played.

Mohammad Tauseeq said that Indian captain Sardar Singh along with other players attacked him before the match in the stands.

He said that they were speaking in filthy language about Pakistan and Islam. “That’s why we celebrated in that manner,” Tauseeq said.

Tasuseeq was among the banned players of the Green Shirts who missed the final of the tournament.

Pakistan finished second and got the silver medal after being beaten by Germany 2-0 in the final.  in the tournament played in India.
