KARACHI: As pentangular cup is going on in National Stadium Khan and we have seen some of the most spectacular performances in domestic tournament, now the most expected squad for the World Cup is on the last stages.
According to sources, selectors almost finalise the World Cup squad just a few clearances from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shehryar Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq are remaining.
Misbah-ul-Haq will reach Karachi on Sunday (tomorrow) in order to finalise the team for the World Cup with the selectors.
However the announcement of the squad is expected later on Sunday or Monday.
Misbah-ul-Haq will lead the side in the World Cup. All rounder Shahid Afridi who announced his retirement after the mega event also booked his spot in the squad due to his recent performance against New Zealand.
Inform wicketkeeper cum batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed, star batsman Ahmed Shahzad and experienced star batsman Younis Khan also earned their spot in the mega event with their breath taking performances in recent tours against Australia and New Zealand.
Mohammad Irfar would lead the bowling attack in the mega event with Junaid Khan and Wahab Riaz in support.
Mohammad Hafeez whose bowling action still not cleared will also be the part of the team as a opener while if he could clear the test then he will play as an all-rounder.
The most surprising entry will be Shoaib Malik who hasn’t played the international cricket for allot in 2014 but his recent run in domestic tournaments as well as in Australian Big Bash attracted selectors to include him in the International Cricket Council (ICC) mega event.
Haris Sohail could make a his World Cup debut as he has shown his batting and bowling performances against New Zealand in UAE. However Yasir Shah, Zulfiqar Baber and Raza Hassan will be hoping to get their place in final 15.
On the other hand Umar Gul who suffered knee and ankle injury which keep him away from the cricket grounds almost for the whole year could make his return as he declared himself ready for the tournament, while Sohail Tanvir and Anwar Ali also hoping to get their World Cup ticket.
Out of form Umar Akmal and injured Sohaib Maqsood could also make it to the final 15 for ICC event. One of them could also get the ticket to the event Kamran Akmal and Nasir Jamshed.

Misbah-ul-Haq (Skipper), Shahid Afridi, Ahmed Shahzad, Sarfarad Ahmed, Younis Khan, Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Hafeez, Junaid Khan, Shoaib Malik, Wahab Riaz, Yasir Shah, Umar Akmal, Sohaib Maqsood, Umar Gul, Kamran Akmal.
