MUMBAI: After the some religious support to film PK, now another good sign for mister perfect Aamir Khan as his film broke all the records.
The perfect beginning for Mr. perfect Aamir Khan as his film PK broke all the records in India after becoming the fastest ever to achieve ₹300 on the box office.
PK breaking all previous records to become Bollywood’s highest grossing film of all time in the domestic market by earning Rs 2.63 billion in just 13 days to capture top position which was previously held by the Dhoom:3.
Dhoom: 3 earned Rs 2.61 billion , Kick grabbed Rs 2.12 billion , Chennai Express Rs 2.08 billion and 3 Idiots had got 2.01 billion.
Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, PK which also stars Sushant Singh Rajput and Anushka Sharma, has been panned by fringe groups all over the country for its alleged objectionable content.
In the past one week, activists have burnt posters of the film and demanded a ban on it, accusing Aamir and the film’s director, Rajkumar Hirani, of ridiculing Hindu gods and goddesses.
Earlier, the film minted 1,125 billion (17.7 million USD and simultaneously it crossed the Rs1billion mark at the overseas box office as well. In the highest grosser list, “PK” has grabbed the fourth position, pushing “Chennai Express” and “Happy New Year” to fifth and sixth positions, respectively.
The film has grossed 1.5 million pounds from the UK-Ireland box office by second weekend. At the UK box office, “PK” is the ninth highest grosser.
From the Gulf region, the film minted 12.69 million AED by second weekend. The performance of the film is good in Australia and New Zealand box offices, where Bollywood films don’t fare well.
From Australian box office, the film earned A$1.6 million within 10 days, while from New Zealand box office, the film raked in NZ$ 0.4 million.
