CHENNAI: Chennai police arrested the chief operating officer (COO) of Sun TV, C Praveen, on Friday morning on sexual harassment complaints filed by a former member of staff of the television network.
A police team stormed into his house in Anna Nagar at 5 in the morning and picked him up. Preethi Sivan (name changed), a former staff of Surya TV, a sister concern of Sun TV, filed the complaint against him, Times of India reported.
Preethi quit her job five months ago following alleged sexual harassment by him. She submitted a complaint to police against Praveen for harassing her continuously.
She submitted the WhatsApp conversation, messages and call records to police along with her complaint to substantiate her claim.
Preliminary inquiries confirmed that Preethi had suffered physical and mental torture.
It is pertinent to mention here that India has attracted the attention of the world in the last two to three years mostly for attacks on women, particularly for rape cases.
