ISLAMABAD: As power prices have been decreased in country the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has issued the notification of decreasing power tariff by Rs2. 97.
Meanwhile preparations are being made for increasing the gas tariff by 10 to 64 percent from 1st January.
According to the NEPRA notification, the decision of decreasing power tariff by Rs 2 and 97 paisas has been taken in form of fuel adjustment for the month of November. It has said in the notification that consumers would be given relief of Rs 19 million in the month of January.
According to NEPRA 6.53 billon units of electricity were sold to consumers in the month of November.
All power supplying companies have been asked to provide complete relief to consumers in the month of January.
Meanwhile, it is decided to increase the gas prices from 10 to 64 percent.
According to the petroleum ministry officials, the decision is taken to increase gas prices by 53 percent for industrial consumers while 18 percent for commercial consumers.
It has been decided to incase gas prices for fertilizer sector by 64 percent and 30 percent for Captive power plats. However, the sui gas prices are going to be increased by 10 to 16 percent for domestic consumers.
However, the final approval in hike of gas prices would be taken from Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and new rates would be implemented from January 1.
