Non-bailable arrest warrant of Maulana Abdul Aziz issued

ISLAMABAD: A local court on Friday issued non-bailable arrest warrant of chief cleric Islamabad’s Lal Masjid and ordered police to produce him before the court in next date of hearing in a case registered against him on the complaint of civil society activists for threatening them.

On Friday, SHO Aapara Khalid Awan submitted challan against Maulana Abdul Aiziz of Lal Masjid in the FIR registered against him for allegedly threatening the civil society activists for holding protest demonstration outside the Lal Masjid.

The SHO stated that though Maulana Abdul Aziz was not Khateeb of Lal Masjid, but he used to lead prayers at the mosque. He also requested the court to issue arrest warrant of the cleric.

Upon this, Civil Judge Saqib Jawad issued arrest warrant of Maulana Aziz and ordered police to produce him before the court by arresting him.

It is to be mentioned here that civil society activists and right campaigners have been holding protest demonstration against the cleric for not condemning the Peshawar massacre unconditionally.
