Players making their last World Cup appearance in 2015

SYDNEY: There are a number of players who may not be around when the 2019 cricket World Cup is staged in England. 

A number of star cricketers are likely to retire following the World Cup 2015.

For Sri Lanka, Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara have already announced that they have played their last matches on home soil. They will retire from international cricket after the mega event.  Jayawardene has already retired from Test and Twenty 20 formats, while Sanagakkara will play his last Test series against New Zealand. He has also retired form T20 format after T20 World Cup 2014 in which Sri Lanka lifted the trophy for the first time.

For Pakistan, it is expected that the World Cup 2015 would be the last for T20 skipper and star all rounder Shahid Afridi, skipper Misbah-ul-Haq and experienced batsman Younis Khan.

India’s legendary skipper MS Dhoni who has won T20 as well as 50-overs trophies for his country is likely to retire from international cricket as well following the tournament in Australia and New Zealand.

For West Indies, power house Chris Gayle and Jerome Taylor could make their last appearance.

Australia’s Michael Clarke who is nursing an injury these days is also likely to retire from international cricket.

Following are the other players likely not to be around for the 2019 World Cup.

From South Africa: Imran Tahir, Dale Steyn and Lonwabo Tsotsobe.

Bangladesh: Star all-sounder Shakib Al Hasan.

England: Fast bowler James Anderson and batsman Ian Bell.

New Zealand: All-rounder James Franklin, skipper Brendon McCullum, spinner Nathan McCullum, fast bowler Kyle Mills and star batsman Ross Taylor.
