First NAPC meeting for decisive anti-terrorism action concluded

ISLAMABAD: The National Action Plan Committee (NAPC) for action against the terrorism and extremism, has been informed of proceeding of the important meeting chaired by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif held at General Headquarter on protection of national security.

The consultations have been started on possible steps for national security and internal stability. The approval of new strategy against the terrorism will be obtained in the next joint meeting of the political and military leaderships.

The first formal meeting of the national action plan committee constituted by the All Parties Conference (APC) was held at the parliament house on Friday. Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan chaired the meeting.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders Qamar Zaman Kaira and Rehman Malik represented the PPP in the meeting.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Dr Shireen Mazari, Arif Alvi represented PTI in the meeting. Muthidda Qaumi Movement (MQM)’s leaders Dr Farooq Sattar, Babar Ghouri , Jamat-e-Islami Pakistan (JI)’s Sahabzada Tariqullah, Afrasiyab khattak of Awami National Party (ANP) and leaders of the others parties also participated in the meeting.

The decision to form the Committee was taken at a meeting of the leaders of Parliamentary parties in Peshawar and it will submit its recommendations to the political and military leadership within seven days.

The representatives of the political parties were informed regarding details of the meeting held at the GHQ.

It is worth mentioning here that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived at Pakistan Army s General Headquarters (GHQ) on Friday to discuss overall security situation.

The Prime Minister was received by Army Chief General Raheel Sharif on his arrival at the GHQ. Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar were accompanying him.

The military leadership briefed the premier on progress in ongoing anti-terrorism operations in North Waziristan and Khyber Agency.

Overall security situation was also reviewed during the meeting while briefing regarding operations on the basis of intelligence reports was also given.
