ISLAMABAD: Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has approved to end moratorium on death penalties in a bid to root out terrorism in the country.

PM House spokesperson said on Wednesday that PM Nawaz Sharif approved to lift ban on implementation of death penalties in wake of recent brutal attack on Peshawar’s Army Public School which claimed at least 141 lives including 132 children in Army Public School.

The death sentences would be implemented against the various criminals accused terrorism cases in the country.

According to unofficial sources, at least 8,000 criminals were pronounced death in different cases amongst accused in terrorism acts.

Death penalties in Pakistan were suspended since tenure of President Asif Ali Zardari during 2008 to 2013 which later followed by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) led government despite many attempts to resume it.
