ADELAIDE: Nathan Lyon magnificent spell of bowling has lead Australia to victory against India in 1st Test match played at Adelaide Oval.
India required 364 runs on the fifth day of the Test match as Australia decided not to bat on the last day of the match.
India after losing two wickets early in the inning recovered well as opener Murali Vijay and Virat Kholi set a brilliant partnership of 185 runs.
At that time it looks like India are going to win the match but in come Nathan Lyon to spoil the party for men in blue.
Spinner removed Vijay for 99, Kholi for 141 and Rohit Sharma to turn the game around for Australia. He took the figures of 7 wickets for 148 runs to lead his side to victory.
Earlier Australia won toss and elected to bat first, as they scored massive 517 runs thanks to centuries from Steven Smith, David Warner and Skipper Michael Clarke.
Smith scored unbeaten 161, Warner scored 141 while Clarke made 128 runs contribution for his side before declaring the innings at 517 on loss of 7 wickets.
Karan Sharma, Mohammad Shami and Varun Aaron took 2 wickets each for India.
India in reply all out on 444 runs thanks to skipper Kholi and 73 runs contribution of Cheteshwar Pujara.
Nathan Lyon picked up 5 wicket while Mitchell Johnson and Peter Siddle share 2 wickets each for Australia.
Second Innings
Australia started their innings having lead of 73 runs added 290 on loss of five wickets before declaring the innings.
David Warner yet again scored a century while Steven Smith again remained unbeaten on 52 runs.
Karan Sharma took two wickets for India.
With this victory Australia lead the five-match series 1-0 against India.
