Altaf Hussain welcomes Imran Khan in Karachi

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain on Thursday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has constitutional right to hold sit-ins and public gathering in the country.

Altaf Hussain released his statement amid shutter down strike call of Imran Khan in MQM’s stronghold Karachi, the metropolis of Pakistan, on December 12 (tomorrow).

Altaf Hussain said that MQM respected constitutional right of PTI to organise protests and he wished that no confrontation will be made by other political parties against PTI sit-ins.

He appealed PTI to maintain peace during their anti-government protests in the metropolis.

Some sources claimed for backdoor contacts between MQM and PTI leadership to settle down political issues in order to make PTI protest successful.

Rumours started circulating that PTI’s political ally and Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Shaikh Rasheed played a vital role for holding backdoor contact between PTI and MQM leadership when he arrived Karachi yesterday.

Shaikh Rasheed had expressed his wish for Altaf Hussain to welcome political opponent Imran Khan in MQM’s stronghold Karachi, however, the wish came true by recent development while PTI have now provided an open political ground to play its inning led by cricketer-turn-politician Imran Khan.
